***UPDATE***It turns out my original review wrongly called out the iPhone 8 Plus not working. We have since resolved this and the cable is in fact working just fine with both iPhone's and Android phones. It is great having a single cable in the car to support everyone's competing needs, especially since the USB C fast charging is nice when when needed, but using Android Auto / Apple Carplay are still USB A. I have updated my review from 4 star to 5 star, from the original information below***ORIGINAL REVIEW***I bought this specifically for our new car because it has USB A and USB C outlets. We have two iPhones and an Android Pixel phone in the family so having a single cable meet all our needs was the dream. For my Pixel phone this works great. Android Auto initiates without fail and my phone charges well. Unfortunately my wife's older iPhone is very picky with cables and this cable doesn't cut it. It fails to detect or even charge her iPhone. Not sure if it needs to be MFi certified then? She is back to using her Apple lightning to USB A cable again and it is a pain swapping cables all the time. Using her Apple cable, her phone charges fine and Apple Carplay loads. I suspect it might be more about the age of her phone (8 Plus), than the cable, but the cable did not meet my expectations and the whole reason I bought it for is a bust! I am still giving it four stars because it feels sturdy and may work fine for other models of phones that are not as picky.
